The Wisconsin Supreme Court has made a very important decision that is going to have a major effect on the state’s citizens. Democratic Governor Tony Evers tried to enact stay at home policies that were deemed to be too draconian. In a landmark decision, the order was tossed out by the Supreme Court.
The orders are not able to be enforced and Evers has clearly overstepped his boundaries here. His administration was found to have abused their power and rightfully so. They had decided to extend the lockdown period for another month but they did not take the time to discuss this idea with state legislators first.

The state’s Department of Health Services issued the unwanted extension despite the fact that the state has had a low volume of coronavirus cases. Only 421 Wisconsin residents have died as a direct result of the virus. Thanks to the state’s legislature (which is led by the Republicans), unemployed residents and small businesses were able to enjoy a major victory.
Those who have been suffering as a result of these lockdown orders are finally receiving a bit of relief. It has to be frustrating for residents of various states who are forced to watch their governors take these kinds of liberties. This is the first time that one of these statewide orders has actually been struck down by a higher court.
This sets quite the precedent for other states to follow now. Citizens who are looking to be freed from their house arrest may be given the chance to go outside for the first time in months. If this court is willing to go against the rules that are being put into place and side with Republican lawmakers, this provides much-needed hope to others.
The Court decided against Evers by a 4-3 count and all of the votes against the lockdown came from conservative politicians. The court has a fifth conservative side with the two liberals. Evers was already in the process of lifting various restrictions but this was not happening fast enough to meet the needs of Wisconsin residents.
Scott Walker is the state’s former governor and as a prominent Republican, he was more than happy to celebrate this decision. It’s a major victory for the conservatives out there who were getting tired of being told what to do by liberals who do not know what they are talking about.
A disease like this one comes with more questions than answers. When scientists cannot even provide a consensus opinion about what we should or should not be doing, it is hard to take the word of a governor with no medical training as fact. There’s no turning back now, though.
This is our new normal and we are sure that this is not the last time that a state will be forced to fight this battle in their Supreme Court. Our hopes of a united front have fallen by the wayside and once again, it’s liberals vs. conservatives. This time, the future of the nation is at stake and no one knows what the future is going to hold.
In the meantime, the state of Wisconsin will serve as a guinea pig of sorts. If this order is struck down and the state is able to return to a semblance of normalcy, other states are going to be emboldened to fight for their rights as well. No one should be willing to blindly accept this sort of tyranny and Wisconsin is leading the way.

The state’s highest court sided with Republican lawmakers Wednesday in a decision that curbed Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ power to act unilaterally during public health emergencies.
The 4-3 decision was written by four of the court’s conservatives — Chief Justice Patience Roggensack and Justices Rebecca Bradley, Daniel Kelly and Annette Ziegler.
The court’s fifth conservative, Brian Hagedorn, wrote a dissent joined by the court’s two liberals, Ann Walsh Bradley and Rebecca Dallet.
The court issued the decision a month after Kelly lost his seat on the court. He will be replaced in August by Dane County Circuit Judge Jill Karofsky, a liberal who beat him by 10 points in the April 7 election.
The ruling immediately threw out the administration’s tool to control a disease for which there is no vaccine. It came after Evers had already begun lifting some restrictions because the spread of the virus has slowed for now.
The governors who are responsible for these abuses of power are going to need to sleep with one eye open going forward. This not a threat, though. They are simply going to be voted out of office at the first possible opportunity. That’s how the people can truly show their displeasure with what is taking place in their specific states.

Only time will tell if people are willing to make the right choices to protect their freedom. People are always making voting decisions that go against their own interests and this is all too common. Now, Wisconsin’s liberals are left to hope that one of their precious lefty judges will swoop in and save them from this order.
This summer is going to be a long one and we are interested to see how the rest of these battles turn out. What happens when the leftists are able to get their way, though? If you thought that the initial protests were bad, just wait until you see what happens next. Americans need the economy reopened and freedom fighters will stop at nothing to make that happen.
