Criminal vandals are preparing to tear down the iconic statue of Andrew Jackson outside the White House.
Police have stepped in to attempt to stop the destruction.

Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, a general in the United States Army and served in both houses of the U.S. Congress.

By 8:30 p.m. police had pushed the protesters away from the statue using chemical irritants.
