This week, the Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector of Texas have arrested eight gang members and three sex offenders entering the United States from the southern border.
Meanwhile, the chaos started prevailing on the border as Border Patrol officials got into a heated argument with each other during the visit of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary Alejandro Mayorkasto.
Molesters and gang members arrested

As border agents found a Salvadoran national in a group of 18 migrants on Wednesday, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) indicated the arrested person had a prior conviction of molesting a child less than 13 years old.
Similarly, another Salvadoran national entering America with a group of 10 people was caught and found to have sexually harassed a child under 14 years old in Los Angeles.
The same day, an Uruguayan national was also arrested; he was sentenced to 12 months probation in Georgia back in 2007 for a sex-related offense.
However, criminal infiltration into America did not end here; eight foreign nationals from Honduras, Romania, and El Salvador were caught having a history of getting attached to transnational criminal organizations.
One Romanian national had an active extradition warrant, which alarmed Border Patrol agents.

While over 178,000 border encounters happened in December alone, more than 1.7 million such incidents occurred all during FY2021.
In the last fiscal year, 10,763 people with criminal investigations were arrested, which was a significant increase from 2020 when only 2,438 such people were caught.
Compared to 2021, when 488 arrested people were convicted for sex crimes, 156 such cases happened in 2020.
Alarming divisions found in US border staff
Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents arrested five Syrian men at Hidalgo, Texas, per DHS. This marked the agents’ effort of arresting illegal immigrants from a nation with a geographical location far away from the United States.
Amidst all the chaos, the DHS secretary found alarming divisions among border agents during his visit to Texas.
Raul Ortiz, the US Border Patrol chief, claimed in a leaked video that “morale is at an all-time low,” as he admitted to losing a number of Border Patrol agents.
Likewise, the Border Patrol chief accused agents of being “frustrated” during their jobs and not achieving what they wanted to do. He suggested staff members would have to take care of each other in order to make things functional again.
As the chief continued yelling at the agents, things started heating up. One of the agents accused Ortiz of leaning towards the “left,” while others blamed him for dropping off illegal immigrants into the communities.

However, Ortiz noted he had been working in the organization for 31 years and is motivated to keep the department functional. To this, one of the agents responded his work of 31 years in the same organization is the actual problem.
