In Dallas speech on Thursday, President Donald Trump warned that we will make little progress as a nation if we spend all of our time throwing millions of Americans into a basket labeled “racist” (or deplorable, for that matter). In a speech that would have been uncontroversial – common-sense, even – only a few short years ago, Trump hit back at the far-left (but increasingly mainstream) idea that to be born white in America is synonymous with being born racist.

“In recent days there has been vigorous discussion about how to ensure fairness, equality, and justice for all of our people,” Trump said. “Unfortunately, there are some trying to stoke division and to push an extreme agenda, which we won’t go for, that will produce only more poverty, more crime, more suffering.
“This includes radical efforts to defund, dismantle and disband the police,” he noted. “They want to get rid of the police forces, they actually want to get rid of it, and that is what they would do, and that is the way they would go. Instead we have to go the opposite way.”
Trump said the path forward involved making sure our police are well trained and our recruitment policies are tightened. The president noted, however, that no matter how much we “reform” law enforcement in America, there were always going to be bad apples that spoil the bunch. And, of course, because police officers are human, there are going to be mistakes – sometimes fatal ones. That, however, doesn’t mean that policing itself should be abolished.
Obviously.
But “obvious” insights have escaped the left for quite some time, so it should be no surprise to see that it has happened again. In the meantime, they should probably spend less time mocking President Trump for how he drinks water and more time listening to what he’s saying. He might just give them a way out of their current slide into pure, rancid insanity.
“Americans are good and virtuous people,” the president said. “We have to work together to confront bigotry and prejudice wherever they appear, but we will make no progress and heal no wounds by falsely labeling tens of millions of decent Americans as racist or bigots. We have to get everybody together…If we don’t do that, we have problems. We will do it, I think we’re going to do very easily. It will go quickly and it will go very easily.”

Of course, what Trump isn’t saying (though he is undoubtedly thinking it) is that Democrats don’t want this racial division and strife to go away. They thrive on it. Their have remade their party into the Party of Identity Politics, and without it, they are nothing. They don’t seem to remember that they tried this “Wokeness vs. The Rest of Racist America” playbook in 2016 to dismal results.
Oh well, if it’s another lesson they need…
