Big Tech Goes on the Offensive

Following the acts of violence that wound up in four people dying and at least 52 arrests, President Trump released a video statement.

Action from Facebook and Twitter

Facebook Integrity VP Guy Rosen stated that the social media platform would remove Trump’s video, due to the nature of events in Washington D.C; Rosen furthermore explained the company’s belief that Trump’s video statement heightens the risk of more violence.

Twitter adopted a similar stance. On the Twitter Safety account, the company announced that D.C.’s “unprecedented and ongoing violent situation” resulted in a temporary ban on Trump’s Twitter account.
