Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former White House Secretary, chose to mock Joe Biden on Twitter after he shared a moment from his time on the campaign trail at the debate.
At the Democratic debate, Biden recalled meeting a young boy with a stutter.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared a tweet that said, “I I I I I I have absolutely no idea” what the former VP is talking about. She used a few extra Is and Hs to make it sound like she was stuttering. She’s since deleted the tweet.
Sanders meant well, but it wasn’t taken quite that way.
Biden was telling the story for no obvious reason. In his previous life, he had to overcome a problem with stuttering. However, it’s not an issue now and it certainly had no relevance within the debate forum.
Sanders sent out a tweet 13 minutes after her original one to add some clarification. She said that she was pointing out that she can’t follow much of what Biden is talking about, not that she was making fun of those with speech impediments.
This has been an issue that Biden has dealt with from the very beginning – he jumps around in his stories, is long-winded, and never really gets to the point. Sanders was simply calling him out on it.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders felt as though she had no choice but to delete those tweets since people didn’t understand what she was trying to do.
Some came to Biden’s defense, stating that he worked to overcome stuttering and make sure to invoke all of the stuttering kids along his campaign trail.
Usually, Joe Biden doesn’t comment on what’s being said about him on Twitter. He lets it go. Not with this one, though. He explained that he’s worked “my whole life” to overcome a stutter. He says that it’s a great honor to mentor kids who have experienced the same. He, then, schooled her on the meaning of empathy, telling her to look it up.
Sanders, rather than getting into a pissing match with the former VP, chose to apologize and deleted the tweet. She even went as far as quoting his tweet in her own apology to say that she didn’t know that about him and that what he does with other kids along the campaign trail is “commendable.”
This is the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats hold a grudge. They get nasty. They defend their horrible comments. Sanders sucked it up and apologized. So as not to add fuel to the fire and let a comment get more hate than necessary, she deleted her comment.
Meanwhile, what she said about Biden still holds true. She only apologized for making the comment about the speech impediment as she didn’t realize his history. As for what her meaning was behind the tweet, she said that she wished she had said it in a more respectful way. Translation: She still didn’t really understand all that he was going on about.
Sanders isn’t the only one to have thought this, though she may have been the only one to use a stutter to say it on Twitter. One of the biggest problems that Dems have with Biden is his inability to speak clearly. He’s all over the board. He’s even mixed up stories with one another, once sharing about pinning a medal on a military member – only he had the location, the rank, and the type of medal all confused.
Biden, for being a former VP of the United States, is not a great public speaker. Most people have no idea what he’s talking about by the time he’s done talking. It’s also one of the reasons why he’s been avoiding doing a lot of public speaking. He and his campaign manager know this to be true, too.

Should Sanders have approached the topic a bit better? Of course. However, she was only picking on the presidential candidate, not every child who has a speech impediment. She said she’s sorry and she took it off of Twitter so that everyone can leave it alone. While people are still giving her grief over it, it’s only a matter of time before the rabid dogs of Twitter find someone else to go after.
In the meantime, the campaign for Biden should realize that he’s losing people each and every time he speaks. They need to simply let him smile and wave while keeping him out of the public eye. It won’t get him elected, but it’s not like a Democrat is going to win the general election anyway.
