The Republican Party in Texas adopted a new platform by declaring that the presidential elections in 2020 violated the Constitution. They believe that President Biden was not the legitimate winner of the election.

The Texas GOP has embraced a 40-page platform while holding its biennial convention in Houston this past weekend.

The new platform says, We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States.

James Wesley is the communications director of the Texas GOP. He told the media that the new resolution was passed by voice vote. The basis of the report claims that there was substantial election fraud in key metropolitan areas of the country. This affected the results in at least five states and it moved the election in Bidens favor.

The new platform in Texas also claimed that some secretaries of state illegally circumvented state legislatures. These politicians are the top election officials in many states. They believe this was a constitutional violation.

We strongly urge all Republicans to work to ensure election integrity and to show up to vote in November of 2022, bring your friends and family, volunteer for your local Republicans, and overwhelm any possible fraud,” the platform states.

This position is counter to those who say that there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election. There is a coalition of both federal and state officials who still indicate that the election was the most secure in American history.

There have been recounts and audits done in some states that seem to confirm that President Trump lost several key states in the election. Former President Trump has continually said that there was significant voter fraud.

This new platform passed in Texas comes simultaneously with the House select committee hearings from their investigation of the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

The House panel is trying to connect the attack to Trumps claims of voter fraud and his alleged encouragement to disrupt the counting of Electoral College votes. The panel has shown evidence that many of Trumps inner circles did not believe he had won the election.

There are Republicans in state governments around the nation who have put forward legislation to restrict access to the ballot because of the 2020 election. Candidates who are connected to Trump are continuing to focus on the fraud they believe impacted the last election.

In New Mexico, there is a GOP-led county commission that refused to certify the states primary election results last week. They raised concerns about discrepancies and the state Supreme Court stepped in after getting a request from New Mexicos Democratic secretary of state.

A total of 38% of Americans say that they do not believe that Biden legitimately won the 2020 election, according to a poll from The Economist and YouGov.

The platform just adopted in Texas also includes a section that says that homosexuality is abnormal” and there is opposition to all efforts to validate transgender identity.” The platform calls for the complete abolition of abortion, prohibiting “the teaching of sex education, sexual health, or sexual choice or identity in any public school in any grade whatsoever. And the platform also calls for Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide, to be overturned.

A final section of the GOP platform in Texas notes that “Texas retains the right to secede from the United States.”

This platform is getting the state ready for a gunslinging stand-off in the upcoming elections.
