James Comer, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman, on Thursday demanded that the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) release records from President Joe Biden's years as vice president from times that overlapped with the activities of his son Hunter Biden's activities in Ukraine.

Comer, R-Ky., in a letter to NARA Archivist Colleen Shogan, requested that all unredacted documents and communications be released in which Biden used a pseudonym; where Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin, or Devon Archer are copied; and for all drafts of a speech Biden delivered to the Ukrainian Rada, or parliament, in December 2015.
"Joe Biden has stated there was 'an absolute wall' between his family's foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family's influence peddling," Comer said in a statement about the letter.
"We already have evidence of then-Vice President Biden speaking, dining, and having coffee with his son's foreign business associates," Comer added. "We also know that Hunter Biden and his associates were informed of then-Vice President Biden's official government duties in countries where they had a financial interest. The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation into the Biden family's corruption."
When Biden was running for the presidency, he said in August 2019 that there was an "absolute wall between the personal and private, and the government" while he was vice president under President Barack Obama, and "that is why I have never talked with my son or my brother, or anyone else in the distant family about their business interests, period," Comer said.
However, witness testimony from Archer revealed that Biden, while vice president, spoke on via phone with his son's foreign business associates over 20 times, Comer said.

In addition, emails in the custody of NARA show that Hunter Biden and his associates had been copied on official government email, Comer said.
Biden also dined with corrupt foreign oligarchs in Washington, D.C., and met with his son's Chinese business associate for coffee in Beijing, Comer added, and emails in NARA's custody also reveal how Hunter Biden and his associates were copied on official government email.
