Political analyst and former operator Dick Morris is in the news again, which has been a rare event ever since Fox News let him go as a contributor after the 2012 election. Morris had parlayed his experience as Bill Clinton’s consigliere into a successful career as a go-to guru for insights into American presidential politics. The fact that Clinton let him go two months before the 1996 election for allowing a prostitute with whom he had been dallying to listen in on conversations with the then-president bestowed on him a bit of spice.

In any case, Morris is quoted by the Washington Examiner as posing an interesting theory that involved Mike Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton, a woman with who he has been obsessed for decades.
“Here’s the deal that I think is going down. I think Hillary and Bloomberg have gotten together and cooked up a scheme.”
Morris presents a half-way credible scenario that justifies the scheme theory. He believes that the Democratic National Convention is going to be brokered, something that many other pundits have postulated. No one is going to get the majority of delegates on the first ballot. Then the backroom wheeling and dealing will begin.
Then Morris ticks off the current Democratic candidates and explains why they will not be the nominee.
Bernie Sanders is too radical and would get creamed by President Trump. Joe Biden has lost his front runner status and is, besides, too old. Pete Buttigieg is too young and inexperienced. Elizabeth Warren is also too radical. Bloomberg blew his chance when he melted down during the Nevada debate.
Then, according to Morris, the convention turns to Hillary Clinton to be the Democrats’ savior.
“And then Hillary begins to gain; the other candidates begin to drop out. And Hillary is the nominee. That, I think, is the establishment scenario. Hillary is the only candidate that they’ll be able to come up with that can measure up to Donald Trump.”
In this scenario, Bloomberg uses his money and media clout to tout Hillary as the compromise candidate. The delegates rally around her and, for the second time in a row, the former senator and secretary of state become the Democratic nominee for president.
Hillary Clinton has officially foresworn the idea of a third run for the presidency. However, she has hinted that she might be Bloomberg’s running mate if called upon. Translated, that means she will not openly seek the nomination but will not turn it down if offered.
Dick Morris’ history suggests that anything that comes out of his mouth has to be taken with a grain of salt. One of the reasons Fox News late him go was that he predicted that Mitt Romney would win the 2012 election by a landslide. Morris turned out to be off by quite a bit.
Morris has also been obsessed with Hillary Clinton for decades, In 2005, he published a book entitled “Condi vs Hillary: The Next Great Presidential Race” in which he postulated that the only Republican who could beat Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential race was Condoleezza Rice, then-President George W. Bush’s secretary of state. Morris turned out to be wide of the mark. A well known African American political figure did beat Hillary Clinton. But he was a Democratic senator named Barack Obama.
In any case, Red State posits a big problem surrounding Morris’s theory about Bloomberg crowing Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee.
“Does anyone think that the already angry Bernie folks, who feel that they got gipped out of the nomination in 2016 by Clinton and are mad again because of recent remarks she made against Bernie, are going to stand for that happening? Much less the other candidates? You would have a fracturing of epic proportions that would make the protests at the last Democratic convention against Hillary and the DNC look like a garden party in comparison.”

Some Bernie staffers, not just Bernie Bro supporters who infest social media, have promised that cities will burn if their guy is denied the nomination, especially by a backroom deal with a New York billionaire and their enemy from 2016. Red State even suggests that some Bernie supporters would vote for President Trump as a protest, which one supposes is a way to burn it call down.
