During a Q&A with reporters, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that the league has “moved on” from Colin Kaepernick, and that the player’s career is no longer on his radar.

That’s got to hurt.

The league and Kaepernick have been at odds since the quarterback began kneeling during the national anthem in the 2016 season.  At the end of the season he was released by the San Francisco 49ers, and no other team has picked him up.

Kaepernick and another player sued the NFL, claiming they were blackballed. The suit was settled with Kaepernick allegedly getting $10 million.

Recently the league organized a workout for Kaepernick in front of scouts, but it was doomed from the start.  The league offered the Saturday workout on a Tuesday, but demanded Kaepernick accept within two hours.  Then the two sides wrangled over the language in the release form required by the league for the workout.

At the appointed time on Saturday, Kaepernick informed the league and the 25 team scouts there to see him that he was not coming, and would hold his own workout about an hour away from the scheduled location.  Eight team scouts showed up, but no one followed up with a contract.

Maybe his deal with Nike is enough to keep him going.
