Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems to have trouble with her temper. When she isn’t fat-shaming President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr, she’s getting angry with reporters for asking her questions she doesn’t like. This time, it’s PBS News Hour host Judy Woodruff who she claimed is an “advocate” for the Republican Party.
Pelosi lost her temper when Woodruff challenged Speaker Pelosi over her narrative relating to the ongoing coronavirus relief package talks.

“The other point Republicans are making is they are now showing flexibility in money for state and local governments,” Woodruff says to Pelosi. “This is, again, a different, Democrats want more money, Republicans want a lot less. They are saying they are willing to show flexibility, and they are also saying that a lot of money that was passed in the spring, Madam Speaker, has not even been spent yet.”
Pelosi wasn’t happy with the line of questioning because it suggests that the Democrats aren’t negotiating in good faith (which they aren’t) and that huge sums of money aren’t universally necessary because a lot of money from the last package hasn’t been spent yet (it hasn’t).
Pelosi interrupted and said, “Well, if you want to be an advocate for them, Judy, if you want to be an advocate for them, let’s know what the facts are.”
Woodruff was not being an advocate for the Republican Party and clarified that she was being “devil’s advocate” – something a journalist shouldn’t have to defend themselves on. Pelosi then shot back, angrily.
“No, you aren’t,” she growled. “The point is we have a bill that meets the needs of the American people. It’s called the HEROES Act. They don’t even want to do state and local, and when they do, it’s very meager and they want to revert to money from before.”
Pelosi didn’t admit, however, that the issue the Republicans have is that many of the demands made by the Democrats don’t have anything to do with the COVID-19 outbreak. In some instances, the money simply isn’t even necessary.
Republicans have proposed spending $1 trillion in giving Americans another check of $1,200, while the Democrats want even more. The Republican plan would also lower the $600 per week in unemployment benefits by $200 and extend it until the end of September. The plan is designed to ensure that people are not encouraged to stay at home because they think they’ll earn more money without going to work.
The Democrats, however, want to extend the additional $600 per week until the end of January, which would give people no incentive to look for work in America’s growing economy.

The Democrats always question Trump’s attitude, but House Speaker Pelosi seems like the angriest politician on Capitol Hill! Could that anger be a result of the fact she can’t defend her party’s policies based on the fact they’re hugely expensive, counter-productive, and designed solely to spite Trump and the Republicans?
