It’s not easy to put your finger on exactly what Black Lives Matter is. In some cases, it’s a slogan. In others, it’s a decentralized movement. In still other cases, it’s a loose affiliation of city-led organizations. And in its final tally, it is a global network started by three women: Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi. And the strange thing is that none of these BLM descriptions are precisely true or false. They are all interconnected to some degree.

That strange interconnectivity (and the deliberately opaque nature of each wing of the movement) makes reporting on Black Lives Matter a difficult feat. It’s not always easy to even understand what someone is talking about when they invoke the name. Are they talking about activists in St. Louis? The global network? Or are they just stating a fact?
The problem with this is that it gives grifters the perfect opportunity to take advantage of what is ostensibly meant to be a “good cause.” Now, we can certainly argue whether or not there really is any “good” at the core of BLM, but we don’t doubt that there are people who show support or parrot the phrase that have good intentions – or at least think they do. They are being badly misled, but you already knew that.
What you may not have known is that they’re probably being fleeced as well.

Black Lives Matter is facing a rebellion within its own ranks as regional affiliates seek greater control over the movement and demand answers about where millions of dollars in donations have gone.
After years of tensions between the national organization and local outlets, the rift went public this week with the release of a statement by 10 BLM chapters accusing the top brass at the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation of failing to open their books or share the wealth with the rank and file.
“For years, there has been inquiry regarding the financial operations of BLMGN and no acceptable process of either public or internal transparency about the unknown millions of dollars donated to BLMGN, which has certainly increased during this time of pandemic and rebellion,” reads the “Statement from the Frontlines of BLM” posted Monday.
“To the best of our knowledge, most chapters have received little to no financial support from BLMGN since the launch in 2013,” the statement reads.

Imagine that. A Marxist organization built on a lie – that innocent black men are being regularly murdered by racist police – is also a financial scam meant to enrich its founders. That it has taken seven years for this to even BEGIN to spill out into the open is a well-timed reminder of the dangers of the news media’s utter cowardice in the face of the woke left.
