Fox News is reporting that Sen Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn was the latest possible vice-presidential running mate to appear on Joe Biden’s podcast “Here’s the Deal.” Klobuchar was, at once time, a candidate for president but is now firmly in Biden’s corner.
“Klobuchar – a former Democratic presidential nomination rival who dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden the day before Super Tuesday in early March – shared details of her personal and professional life and discussed her husband’s recent battle with COVID-19 during an appearance on the fifth episode of Biden’s Here’s the Deal podcast.”

Klobuchar was also careful to attack President Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and to tout Biden’s plans for the same, without quite providing any details. The notion of her being Biden’s running mate did not come up but clearly, she was auditioning for the role, much as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer did in a previous edition of the podcast.
Klobuchar fulfills the main criteria that Biden is looking for in a running mate, being female. Also, as the Star Tribune points out, she has a certain regional appeal.
“With apparent Democratic nominee Joe Biden committed to selecting a woman as his running mate, influential Democrats and national pundits see Klobuchar as a top contender for the No. 2 spot, where she could presumably help deliver Minnesota and other Midwestern battleground states expected to be pivotal in November.”
Of course, a lot of other women are in the mix to run with Biden. Besides Whitmer, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Stacy Abrams are contenders. Michelle Obama is being floated by some Democrats, the theory being that it would constitute an Obama restoration. That theory is considered unlikely because Ms. Obama has not displayed any interest in elected office.
One thing that it does not take a skilled political pundit to point out is that, provided that Biden wins the presidency, a dim prospect, his choice of a vice president is for all intents and purposes a choice of president. Biden is seen as physically and mentally incapable of serving out even a single term as president of the United States.
The scenario being touted in political circles has Biden winning the presidency. Then, a few months later, Dr. Jill Biden tearfully announces that her husband’s decline has taken a turn for the worse and therefore he is obliged to resign. Then his vice president would be sworn in as president while Biden is taken home to live out his last days.
The question arises, what sort of president would Amy Klobuchar make? She is a member of the Minnesota Democratic Farm Labor Party, same as the two old liberals Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale, also failed candidates for the presidency, senators, and vice presidents during their careers. Klobuchar has touted herself as a moderate but could only be considered such in comparison to out and out Bolsheviks such as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Klobuchar checks off the list of acceptable positions for a liberal politician. She is pro-abortion, supports Obamacare, and is an opponent of the War on Terror. Needless to say, she is a fierce critic of President Obama, having purveyed the Russian collusion conspiracy theory, since discredited.
Senator Klobuchar exudes a mien of “midwestern nice” while in public. In private, her behavior has been a little bit at odds with that cultivated image. NBC News explains.
“Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., is facing additional allegations of abusing her staff after a report Friday said the presidential candidate berated an aide for forgetting to bring utensils — forcing the lawmaker to eat a salad with a comb.”
The senator was not pleased and let the unfortunate staffer have it. She then issued some bizarre orders.

“However, the aide forgot utensils and the flight had none on board, prompting Klobuchar to berate the aide and pull a comb from her bag to eat the salad, the paper reported citing four people familiar with the episode. Klobuchar then directed the aide to clean the comb after she had finished.”
Klobuchar has been called one of the worst bosses on Capitol Hill. Her reputation for cruelty and management through “fear, anger, and shame” was such that she had trouble attracting talent for her now-defunct presidential campaign. How she would run the White House, should she get that far, can only be imagined.
