In a bizarre and unhinged New Year’s Eve rant, liberal journalist Kurt Eichenwald went way off the deep end as he blamed Republicans and “antimaskers” for the coronavirus troubles that have hit his family. Eichenwald played out violent fantasies of beating these people to death, clearly abandoning any ethical and unbiased pretense he might have once aspired to.

“I have so much hate in my heart tonight. My sister, widowed by COVID, has Covid because of antimaskers,” he wrote. “About 4,000 died today; GOP says nothing. [Republican Sen. Josh Hawley] & his ilk are working to harm America. I wish them & their loved ones all the pain & misery they inflicted on this country.”
Eichenwald followed that tweet up with this classic: “It’s at a moment like this that I want to find an antimasker and beat them to death. Since they believe they have the right to kill others, they have surrendered any right to object. #CategoricalImperative.”
Perhaps realizing that he might have crossed a line, Eichenwald then tweeted, “No, I’m not planning to kill anyone. Just, as the misery descends on our family again, it is hard not to contemplate violence against those who don’t care if they kill.”
One Twitter user questioned the simple premise behind Eichenwald’s rage, which only served to make the journalist angrier.
“Antimaskers did this?” the user wondered. “How do people who wear masks get it then?”
Cue the rage machine.
“Because you F***ING MORON, masks primarily protect other people. And since 40% of the infected are asymptomatic, the ones without masks are spreading the disease because they don’t give a S*** about killing others. You are either STILL uninformed or too stupid to care,” Eichenwald wrote (through gritted teeth, we don’t doubt).

This guy, by the way, is the same snowflake who went on a high-and-mighty tirade a few years ago when his tormentors sent him flashing videos in an effort to ostensibly send him into an epileptic fit. This, to Eichenwald, was proof that conservatives are horrible people. But apparently going on social media to fantasize and drum up violence against people who don’t wear masks is the mark of a tolerant, thoughtful liberal. Funny how quickly the standards change.
