In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that aired Friday, former Secretary of State John Kerry said the evidence against President Donald Trump in the House impeachment inquiry was “more powerful” than was there was in former President Richard Nixon’s impeachment.

Kerry said, “The evidence is powerful, some of it more powerful already than what we saw in the impeachment of Richard Nixon.”

He continued, “The evidence at this point in time certainly merits the inquiry that is taking place.”

He added, “It would be far better for democracy and the whole world if the world could see a Congress in which everybody was respecting the legitimacy of this process and let the facts tell the story.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Trump’s claim that John Kerry violated the Logan Act is “true.”

“It’s true. I mean I was there in Munich when I saw not only Kerry … the whole gang that crafted that terrible deal…they were there, they met with the Iranian leadership,” Pompeo said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“It’s unusual, but more importantly, it’s wrong,” said Pompeo.

The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953) criminalizes negotiations by unauthorized persons with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States — the purpose of the Logan Act is to prevent an unauthorized person (John Kerry) from undermining the government’s current position.

“John Kerry violated the Logan Act,” Trump said a couple weeks ago. “He’s talking to Iran and has been, has many meetings and many phone calls and he’s telling them what to do. That is a total violation of the Logan act.”

Last May, it was reported by the Boston Globe that Barack Obama’s former Secretary of State, John Kerry had been secretly meeting with foreign officials to salvage Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

John Kerry also reportedly met with French President Emmanuel Macron in both New York City and Paris.

On May 8th, 2018, President Trump announced he was set to withdraw from Obama’s Iran nuke deal calling it one of the worst deals he’s ever witnessed.

Leading up to Trump’s announcement, John Kerry, the architect of the Iran nuke deal, was reportedly behind the scenes on a “stealthy yet aggressive mission” of shadow diplomacy, desperately trying to preserve his pact by meeting with Iranian official, Javad Zarif.

Barack Obama and his officials continue to undermine President Trump on the world stage without fear of reprisal.

John Kerry was previously seen in Paris meeting with Iranian officials, Obama was recently in Germany secretly meeting with Chancellor Merkel and Hillary Clinton traveled to Puerto Rico (US territory) in January to meet with the governor of San Juan to help rebuild infrastructure after a powerful hurricane destroyed the island.

Apparently the Logan Act only applies to Republicans
