New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had a chat with Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer where he delivered some rather devastating news to the fellow citizens of his great metropolis.
According to de Blasio, the city might not reopen until sometime in July or August. This could potentially be disastrous for the residents of the city, as this means they will not be able to return to life as usual — including work — for many more months. Could this potentially be the end of the Big Apple?

It’s certainly not looking good, folks.
Here’s more from Gateway Pundit:
The mayor told Hemmer he does not expect New York City to open until July or August.
March-April-May-June
There will be nothing left in the city in July.
This is a good time for New Yorkers to look for an exit.

Mayor de Blasio already announced schools will be closed for the rest of the year.
How are people supposed to survive if they can’t work? This will leave a staggering number of folks without jobs, businesses will shutter their doors forever, and collapse will undoubtedly happen or at least reach critical mass before the city is allowed to open up.
Folks are going to be devastated and depressed by watching all they’ve worked for disappear. Suicide rates will explode, as will violence in the streets. You can’t keep human beings penned up for months on end without bad things happening.
It’s understandable that de Blasio would want to keep the city shut down, given that New York was the hardest hit area of the country, but one has to be realistic about things if they want to survive this pandemic. There’s more at stake than just a viral infection.
While all of this is happening in New York, President Trump has announced his new plan to “open America up again.”
Here’s more from Fox News:
The plan calls for three phases to reopening the country, based on the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in each individual state or region.
“We can begin the next front in our war, which we are calling ‘Opening Up America Again,'” Trump said during a press briefing at the White House. “To preserve the health of Americans, we must preserve the health of our economy.”
The plan, which Trump announced along with the formation of a bipartisan council of lawmakers from both chambers of Congress, outlines “recommendations” for governors to develop their own plans to reopen. It also includes a number of criteria that must be met in terms of numbers of infections and hospitalizations before they can open up.
The “Opening Up America Again” plan was signed off on by the president’s medical advisers, Dr. Deborah Birx, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Robert Redfield, and will be a “data-driven” approach with governors taking the helm in deciding, down to a county-level, how they will reopen their states, the White House said.
There’s a lot to love about Trump’s approach to handling the coronavirus pandemic. He’s taken this thing very seriously, but also weighed out both sides of the issue that are impacted by the outbreak.
We must get the country working again, but we can’t just go straight back to normal. Trump’s plan is one that every local and state government can tailor to their individual situation, which is exactly what needs to happen. There’s no one-size-fits-all for this outbreak.

On top of that, he’s honoring the Constitution by allowing states to handle this problem themselves. That’s critically important. He’s doing his best to preserve our rights while also combating the spread of the illness.
Here’s to hoping this plan will help the folks of New York before the entire city implodes.
