The NEA yearly meeting has now started, and the union of teachers are voting on a proposal to demand a national masking policy, establish an enemies list, and refuse the words “father” and “mother.”

The Chicago meeting is jam-packed with woke agenda items and progressive terminology that has really nothing to do with the proper education of America’s youngsters. At the least, one measure circulating among unabashedly leftist groups appears to exclude its own heterosexual male members.
“NEA is a justice social union that is mostly female, transgender, and gender non-conforming folks,” one New Business Initiative (NBI) claims. “To publicly defend abortion rights and condemn abortion restrictions as an assault on families, students, and communities.”
“A national policy of required masking and COVID vaccinations in schools, and as well as for immuno-compromised children and all families who desire it, a high-quality virtual education” demands another.
A third opines that the National Education Association will “explain its dedication to young people’s right to learn about and explore their own gender identity and sexual orientation.”
Another fourth promotes words that are “LGBTQIA+ inclusive,” such as using “non-birthing parent” and “birthing parent” rather than mother or father.
Another proposal calls for $140,000 in opposition research on “the largest 25 groups that are working hard to limit a students right to honesty in education, freedom of sexual identification, and teacher autonomy.”
NBIs are pieces of legislation that must be approved by the delegates at a convention. In the past, the NEA has been quite progressive in its policies. It opposed a motion to “rededicate itself to increased student learning” in 2019. On the other hand, it supported “discussions regarding support for reparations” and included “the concept of ‘White Fragility’ into NEA training.”

The discoveries of this year’s NBIs were made by Terry Stoops, a conservative education consultant in North Carolina.
The National Education Association has praised Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals,” with the line, “If you have a big organization, parade it in front of the enemy and display your strength.”
