The refusal by Seattle city officials, namely Democratic Mayor Jenny Durkan, to crack down on armed extremists occupying six blocks of the city has resulted in a huge class-action lawsuit. Several residents and businesses from Seattle, Washington, have filed a suit against the city for allowing the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone or “Occupied Protest” to go on for so long, and stop people from being able to operate their businesses or even access their properties.

A King 5 report explained that the suit did not, however, attempt to “undermine” Black Lives Matter.

“The plaintiffs, including a tattoo parlor and auto repair shop, emphasized in the lawsuit filed Wednesday that they were not trying to undermine the anti-police-brutality or Black Lives Matter messaging of the ‘Capitol Hill Occupied Protest,’” the local outlet reported.

So while they’re taking action because of the protesters, they made sure it was on record that they supported Black Lives Matter…

The lawsuit was filed in a United States District Court, and it reads:

“This lawsuit is about the constitutional and other legal rights of Plaintiffs—businesses, employees, and residents in and around CHOP—which have been overrun by the City of Seattle’s unprecedented decision to abandon and close off an entire city neighborhood, leaving it unchecked by the police, unserved by fire and emergency health services, and inaccessible to the public at large. The City’s decision has subjected businesses, employees, and residents of that neighborhood to extensive property damage, public safety dangers, and an inability to use and access their properties.”

In the suit, business owners also said that protesters had already threatened them with some kind of retaliation if they paint over any of their graffiti. So that explains why they wanted to emphasize that they weren’t opposed to Black Lives Matter…

The lawsuit says that the business owners want to hold local government officials accountable for the part they played in allowing the noise pollution, damage to property, and even the violent assaults.

Calfo Eakes LLP, the law firm that filed the lawsuit, issued a statement saying that the result of the City’s actions “has been lawlessness.”

“There is no public safety presence. Police officers will not enter the area unless it is a life-or-death situation, and even in those situations, the response is delayed and muted, if it comes at all,” the firm said.

Let’s see how long it takes for Mayor Durkan to start sending in the authorities and cleaning up the mess she let happen…
