It’s no surprise that the subject of climate change, or “climate crisis,” as the woke call it, was discussed at length during last Wednesday’s most recent Democratic primary debate. We should not also be caught off guard that Senator Bernie Sanders had anything to say on the matter, as he has been a longtime advocate for New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposal.
But Wednesday’s performance did help instill just how crazy all this banter is and how far some, mainly Sanders, is willing to go to finally get to the White House.

The battle over who would do the most to combat climate change started with former Vice President Joe Biden and billionaire activist Tom Steyer. But apparently, the moderators felt that two old men arguing about it wasn’t enough. So they let Bernie join in as well.
And he was quick to put both men in their place and let them know that he alone has done something for the cause.
He said, “Tom, you talked about the need to make climate change a national emergency. I’ve introduced legislation to do just that.”
Talk about a one up. But Bernie wasn’t nearly done. He then began a rant on the subject in which he stated that “if we don’t get our act together in the next eight or nine years, we’re talking about cities all over the world, major cities going underwater.”
But wait, I thought it was 11 years. Or was it 12? And according to scientific reports supporting climate change, I’m pretty sure those cities were already supposed to be underwater.
“We’re talking about increased drought; we’re talking about increased, extreme weather disturbances” that would, according to the United Nations, mean “hundreds of millions of climate refugees, causing massive national security issues all over the world.”
More refugees? But I thought that is what you and your squad cohorts wanted, Sanders. After all, you guys go on and on about how we should have more open borders and just let everybody in.
But I digress. Sanders is just getting started, and there is much more to talk about.
He then went on to talk about the causes of this “climate crisis” and how the fossil fuel industry was to blame. Only he doesn’t just want to get rid of fossil fuel altogether; he also promised to send industry experts and executives to jail.
He said that we have to “tell the fossil fuel industry that their short-term profits are not more important than the future of this planet.”
“And by the way – the fossil fuel industry is probably criminally liable. They have lied and lied and lied when they had the evidence that their carbon products were destroying the planet. And maybe we should think about prosecuting them as well.”
Sadly, this isn’t just Sanders getting a little carried away with himself during the debate. He has made mention of prosecuting fossil fuel executives before for merely doing their jobs.
He tweeted in August, “Fossil fuel executives should be criminally prosecuted for the destruction they have knowingly caused.” And of course, he added the infamous hashtag “#GreenNewDeal.”
No doubt, he was doing that annoying pointing thing all the while he was writing this.
Sure, let’s get rid of all fossil fuels and send the world back a few hundred years or so, which will, by the way, cost trillions of dollars to do according to Bernie’s plan. And while we are at it, let’s go ahead and make sure that anyone who contributed to the evil fossil fuel industry is criminally charged with murdering the planet, no matter how healthy it actually is.

I’m not really sure how much anyone could ever buy into this and think it has any merit. Not only are these facts unfounded, but the plan is absolutely impossible. How does Sanders expect people to just give up cars, airplanes, or any other mode of transportation? Sure, there are some electric alternatives now, and contributions are being made to make engines that do not rely on fossil fuels, but in most cases, these are a lot more than “eight or nine years” from becoming an active part of everyday society.
What are we supposed to do between now and then? Oh’ wait, I know. Let’s sue the hell out of former fossil fuel execs who lost it all. Yeah, because that makes perfect sense. Not.
