Vem Miller, the 49-year-old man arrested near a Donald Trump rally in Coachella Valley, California, has viciously denied allegations that he intended to assassinate the former president.

Miller was taken into custody on Saturday after allegedly attempting to enter the rally with what authorities described as fake credentials.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Miller was charged with illegally possessing a handgun, a loaded shotgun, and a high-capacity magazine. He was released later the same day on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2025.

In a phone interview with Fox News, Miller stated, “I’m 100 percent a Trump supporter,” and denied any intention to harm the former president.

“I always travel around with my firearms in the back of my truck. I’ve literally never even shot a gun in my life. I don’t know anything about guns. I am beyond a novice,” he said.

Miller claimed he purchased the firearms for personal protection after receiving death threats related to his work in media. He founded the America Happens Network in 2007, which produces conservative news shows and podcasts under the motto “rage against mainstream media.”

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco initially raised alarm by telling the Southern California News Group, “We probably stopped another assassination attempt.”

But two sources close to the Trump campaign told Fox News they do not believe the incident was an assassination attempt. Furthermore, in a joint statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Secret Service, and FBI said, “This incident did not impact protective operations and former President Trump was not in any danger.”

Miller denied accusations that the press passes, driver’s licenses, and passports in his possession were fake. He attributed the multiple identification documents to his Armenian heritage, stating, “Using my full Armenian name could put me in danger.”

Sheriff Bianco defended the arrest during a press conference.

“If we are that politically lost that we have lost sight of common sense and reality and reason that we can’t say ‘Holy crap, why’d he show up with all that stuff for and loaded guns?’ and I am going to be accused of being dramatic? We have a serious, serious problem in this country,” he said.

Miller described himself as a former Democrat who supported Barack Obama but is now “all-in” with Trump.

“This is a man that I deeply admire, because I was a closet individual in terms of my beliefs, because I worked in Hollywood. As my politics started to change, I realized that Hollywood is a homogeneous community,” Miller told Fox News.

As of now, no federal charges have been filed against Miller, though authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

Trump’s campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, stated, “We thank law enforcement for securing the rally site and helping ensure the safety of President Trump. We are aware of news reports about the arrest and are currently monitoring the situation and gathering more information.”
