Most people are a little biased toward the area and the people they grew up around or are from. And it’s completely natural to be so inclined.

However, US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez takes it a bit further than most. One might even call it hate, prejudice, or racism.

On Tuesday, the congresswoman was traveling across the country, though an unnamed state, that could in any realistic sense be the state of your birth. During which time, she posted a short video of the passing landscapes, miles upon miles of agricultural fields and plains, bereft of just about any kind of man-made structures. Just wide-open wilderness.

It was rather beautiful until you heard her voice interrupt your thoughts. She said, “All right, everyone, it’s been a minute. We’re coming to you live from the Electoral College.”

And then after a dramatic pause for effect, she added, “Many votes here, as you can see. Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean, I can’t think of any other way. Can you?”

She is obviously trying to insinuate that not only is the Electoral College a dumb idea but that these states and their citizens somehow don’t matter, at least not nearly as much as coastal populations with its large cities and industrial centers.

No, she may not be seeing a lot of people or even buildings where she was driving through, but that doesn’t mean that lives are not affected by that land, nor that people don’t live there.

How many of those acres are used annually to feed this nation, even those who live in populated cities like New York? Thousands upon thousands. They matter; without them, our country would very well starve.

And why do these people matter less than those who live her beloved city? The truth is that they don’t. Just as it is not AOC’s fault that thousands flock to the city life, those who live in Middle America are not to blame for how widely dispersed their populations are. They have a right to live the way they want, as do the constituents found in California or New York.

But AOC’s contempt for the Electoral College and Middle Americans didn’t stop there. She has since then made comments about just how much of a “scam” the voting system is.

She says that because of “racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as opposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally.”

Well, here we have it. She, once again, pulls the race card. Shocking, I know…

Does she think that someone planned for a vast majority of minority groups to live in the larger cities of America? Are there signs up somewhere in the Mid-West that say only white people can live there? Absolutely not.

She isn’t being smart here like she thinks she is. Instead, she is showing us all just how dumb she is. AOC, like most other liberals of the day, must have slept through every history and civics class.

The Electoral College was a significant part of the Constitution and a massive key to its adoption. The men who thought it up wanted to make sure that everyone was equal and got an equal vote.

But in a nation as large as ours, where some states house millions of people in a small space and others saw only thousands but with room to spare, compromises were required.

What they came up with was a way that gave both rural areas and big cities equal power, meaning one is not greater than the other, or more important.

The “unwashed masses” of Middle America, as AOC refers to them, are just as American and deserve just as much power, as do the people she claims to represent.

But this rant against Middle America also shows just how self-centered she is. She only cares about herself and her city, what she could get if the system were different.
