Bill Maher, the host of “Real Time” on HBO who has long been considered the “sensible” liberal,” said on Friday that defunding the police force will make people vote for Trump. The analysis sounds pretty accurate, especially considering polls have repeatedly shown a majority of the American public doesn’t support the idea.
However, he also showed his true left-wing side and pandered to far-left ideologues who are rioting and destroying cities. Maher said it’s a good idea to take funds away from the police, and to give that money to other causes instead.

“Liberals want to take police money, police funds and divert it to community services, which sounds like a very good thing, good idea, but they’re calling it “Defund the Police,” which sounds bad,” he said. “That is so Democrats for you. You know, they must have meetings to be this f*cking stupid about politics. Hey guys, we’re making some headway here, how can we turn this into something that makes people have to vote for Trump?”
Maher repeated the disproven lie that “Defund the Police” doesn’t literally mean “Defund the Police.” Only last week, the New York Times published an op-ed entitled, “Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police.” Rioters have also made it clear that their demand is literally to defund the police, too. Just take a look at the streets of the CHAZ – the so-called “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” that was claimed by armed members of Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

The six-block section of the city of Seattle has been completely destroyed, with businesses and buildings covered in graffiti that reads “ACAB” and “Kill the cops.” In the city of Minneapolis, too, the “Defund the Police” sentiment has already resulted in the local city council voting to defund the police department and replace it with something entirely new.
But Maher thinks this isn’t really the goal of the Democrats.

“Yes, we should divert funds, but not defund,” he said. “I’m always pissed off when I read about teachers having to beg for money and paying for their own school supplies. But the cops? Cops just go, you know, it would be cool if we had a robot that shoots fireballs. Done.”
Maybe if they wanted to redirect some funds, their slogan should have been, “Redirect Some Police Funds.”
