In a stunning bipartisan display that’s increasingly rare in Washington, D.C., 59 House Democrats joined the Republican Party in vowing to rein in President Joe Biden’s reckless spending.

Literally.

Democratic Party representatives on Wednesday joined by the dozens with Republicans to vote on the Reduce Exacerbated Inflation Negatively Impacting the Nation (REIN IN) Act. It would require the White House assess any inflationary pressures that Biden’s “major” executive orders could have on the economy before the White House can issue them.

The bill easily passed the House of Representatives by a 272-148 vote — a stunning rebuke of the unpopular president.

Under the bill, any executive order by Biden that would spend more than $1 billion annually would have to first undergo an economic study by the administration regarding it’s inflation impacts.

GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., celebrated the bipartisan bill as a victory for American families dealing with crushing inflation caused by Biden’s free spending.

“During the past two years of one party, far-left, radical, socialist Democrat rule in Washington led by President Joe Biden, inflation has skyrocketed to the highest level in my lifetime,” Stefanik said.

“You talk to any family, any small business, any farmer, any manufacturer, and they will say that the inflation that they are suffering from is crippling their businesses, crippling their family budgets,” she told Fox News.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, R-K.Y., co-sponsored the bipartisan bill and said it will slow Biden’s “costly actions.”

“Pushing one big-spending policy after another, President Biden has continued to throw fuel on the inflationary fire,” Comer told Fox News.

“That fire is rapidly consuming the wages of our constituents,” Comer said. “They have had to pay higher and higher prices for everything from eggs to electricity, all while inflation pushes their real wages further and further behind.”

“The REIN IN Act ensures that costly actions the President decides to take solely under his own authority through executive orders will not go into effect until he is informed of and considers the potential inflationary effects,” he said.

“The hope is the president, once he is informed of and understands the potential for inflationary harm from his own policy initiatives, will think twice about inflicting such harm.”

Now that the REIN IN Act has passed the House of Representatives, it heads to the U.S. Senate. It is unclear if the Democrat-controlled Senate will pass the bill — or even allow the bill to come to the floor.
